A lonely journey

A photography project that documents the tradition of an era, in some cases threatened, and in others, extinct.

It can also be seen as a story of transformation and adaptation as part of an evolutionary process. The architecture of some of the largest industries in Portugal's recent history is framed in these images. Just as the vestiges of time, noise and pollution are still present within these abandoned spaces, nature has made its way, taking over these places. This visual testimony places us on the south bank of Lisbon, along the Tagus River, whose rapid access to the capital's port and the Atlantic was seen by these four major industries as a strategic location. In fact, since the 15th century, it represented a starting point for some journeys that completely changed our perception of the planet.
