Cultural roots that we all share

A mirror of diversity in a statement of political possibility against conflict and fear of the other

Every four years since 1920, scouts from all continents gather in a vast camp where they cook, walk, play, dream and live together around a campfire. During two of these events, a studio was improvised by the photographer NUNO PERESTRELO to portray the scouts in their uniforms under tropical conditions. One by one, country by country, the camera is the only link between the photographer and the person. As he looks back at the images, he imagines the moment they were captured and reflects on how many of the people portrayed are now adults. The photographs, which should be static, are in transition; they express change, a change that can erase borders and break down barriers.
